Allen Browne wanted $17,500 for the Kiwanis name within 24 hours.

Harry E. Karr president of the Baltimore Kiwanis Club subscribed $500 towards the purchase. Within those 24 hours Kiwanis purchased itself from Allen S. Browne.

Harry E. Karr would go on to be Kiwanis International President in 1921.
