The Mountain Road Kiwanis Club received its Charter on Tuesday, Jan 29, 1952 at the Friendship International Airport The officers were President Warren G Eyerly, Vice President Isadore Hillman, Secretary Treasurer Ernest Twigg The Club was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Glen Burnie The first meeting was held in the building that was originally built by the "sons of Temperance Lodge" in 1875.

(Capital Builder V21, #5, Feb 2002) The Mountain Road Kiwanis club celebrated its 50th Anniversary on December 4, 2001 at the La Fontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie, Maryland Mr John Wilson Jr, Past LG and President Mr Julius Koch, President, welcomed the visiting officers, guests, and members of the visiting clubs Two of the guests, Mr Hillary Lee Stallings and Mr Harry A Jones were charter members Ms Cecelia Fabula, Assistant to Anne Arundel County Executive, Janet Ownes, presented an Executive Citation, on behalf of the Citizens of Anne Arundel County Paying tribute to the club on its very special occasion of its 50th Anniversary Mr Michael Cadogan, from the county Executive's Office was also present.

John Wilson Jr introduced LG Jeff Althoff, who introduced Capital District Gov Jerome E Peuler, Jr, Gov Peuler congratulated the club on its achievements and the program of trying to eliminate the leading cause of mental retardartion in the world that the Kiwanis sponsored Kiwanis International raised $ 70 million that has been used to introduce iodine into salt into the Third World countries Gov Peuler conducted a crowd pleasing question and answer period pertaining to happenings and incidents during the last 50 years.
